About, privacy and reporting a problem
Plain words, and only what the code actually does. If something here is wrong, please tell us (last section).
01 — What this is
An unofficial community companion.
Konkani Nirontori is a community project for Konkani speakers. It follows the Konkani singing marathon in Mangaluru: the record clock, which team is scheduled on stage, a finder for every team's hour, and the full day-by-day schedule. It is not run or endorsed by Mandd Sobhann or Guinness World Records, and it is not the official stream.
It never re-broadcasts anything. The video player embeds only the organisers' own stream, and only after you press Play. If the organisers have not shared a stream, the player says so.
Nothing on this site is verified by anyone. "Who is singing now" comes from the published one-hour-per-team schedule, or from a volunteer's tap in the organiser panel, and the page says which one it is using. Guinness verification decides the official result.
02 — Where the data comes from
The organisers' announcements.
The start (3 November 2026, 6:00 AM IST), the target of 12 days, 12 hours and 12 minutes, the 300 one-hour team slots and the existing record of 11 days, 11 hours and 11 minutes come from the organisers' announcements. The songs and singers figures are estimates worked out from announced averages, not counts.
Team names and slot times come from the schedule shared by the organisers. Volunteers can correct a name in the organiser panel, and the corrected version is what you see.
If the real day runs ahead of or behind the schedule, volunteers can say so in the organiser panel, and the page shows how sure it is.
03 — Privacy
What is stored, in plain words.
No accounts, no sign-up, no ads, and no cookies for visitors. Browsing, finding a team and cheering set no cookie.
- Cheers. Four counters on the server (goosebumps, sing on, still awake, proud to be Konkani). A tap adds one to a total. Nothing records who tapped, what device you used or when.
- Your IP address, briefly, to stop floods. To keep one device from flooding the cheer counters, the server counts recent cheer taps per IP address. When the site runs on a single server, that address sits in the server's memory for up to one minute and is never written to disk. When it runs on the shared database (Supabase), it is stored only as a one-way SHA-256 hash (shortened, not salted, so treat it as pseudonymous rather than anonymous) with a counter, and rows older than two hours are deleted by the database function itself (it runs the clean-up on roughly one call in a hundred, so on a very quiet day a row may stay a little longer).
- Organiser login. Failed PIN attempts are counted per IP address in the same way, for ten minutes. This only matters to the volunteers.
- On your device only. Your browser's local storage holds up to five small items, and none of them is ever sent to the server: nl-lite (whether Lite mode is on), nl-hours (your time zone choice and listening window in "Your Konkani hours"), nl-moments (up to five "moments" you marked: which hour and when), nl-ih (how many times you have visited, so the "add to your home screen" hint waits for your second visit) and nl-ih-x (when you last closed that hint, so it stays away for 14 days). The session storage of the tab holds one more marker (nl-ih-s) so that a visit is counted once, not once per page. Your time zone is read in your browser to show local times; it is not sent anywhere. Clear this site's data in your browser to remove all of it.
- Updates. The page asks the server for the current state every 10 to 30 seconds. These are ordinary requests with no identifier of yours in them.
- The hosting provider. Like any website, the company that hosts it sees ordinary request details (IP address, browser, page) in its own logs, under its own policy. This site does not read or keep those logs.
- YouTube and Facebook. Nothing is loaded from either until you press Play on the stream (or follow the "Open on" link). After that, they see your visit under their own policies; the player uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie) address. Fonts, images and logos are served from this site. Links to Google Calendar and WhatsApp only open if you click them.
- Organisers. A volunteer who logs in gets one signed, httpOnly cookie (nl_org, 12 hours) holding a random session id. Visitors never get it. Organiser actions are logged with the first eight characters of that id, not a name or an IP address.
- Analytics. This deployment does not use any analytics. (The site owner can switch on privacy-friendly page-view counts. If they do, this line changes to say exactly what is recorded.)
04 — Logos and takedown
Marks belong to their owners.
The Mandd Sobhann, First World Konkani Music Mega Convention and Guinness World Records "Official Attempt" marks are shown only to identify the event this site follows. They belong to their owners, and showing them does not mean those owners run, check or endorse this site. If an owner or the organisers ask for a logo, a name or this whole site to come down, it will be taken down; use the section below.
05 — Contact
Report a problem or ask for removal.
Found a wrong name, a wrong time, something that should not be here, or want your team's details, a logo or anything else removed? Tell us what and where (the page address helps).
